Ok article. No surprise here. It would seem that most people would eliminate unnecessary driving in order to save money.

Of course! In an attempt to ward of the expense of gas costs.

cut 2011's results by a quarter and you have the total miles for 2012.

Good story. I believe this trend will continue as prices rise.

Intersting story - and entirely logical. Gas prices keep going up; people are out of work. No jobs = no commuter miles (to work and back) and since they aren't working then they don't have the money to drive to Disney World with the kids.

Expect that the miles driven will continue to decline as the pump prices for gasoline continue to climb. The airlines will also take a hit as they are forced to raise thier fares to cover higher fuel costs and people will travel by air less as well.

My driving habits have changed as I try to combine trips into as few as possible. Will do so more now that the gas prices are getting so outrageous.
